Duties of the university search committee

The Commission, in addition to exercising the functions attributed to it by the law, the Statute and the University regulations, develops and updates criteria and methods for monitoring the third mission/social impact activities carried out in the University and promotes the adoption of good practices that are consistent with the strategic objectives identified by the University, encouraging their sharing and extension to the entire teaching staff.

In order to guarantee the highest levels of quality of the Commission's work, the evaluation criteria, approved by the University bodies, are public and are inspired by international and national evaluation models for the third mission/social impact. These criteria must be consistent with the University's strategic plan, with the evaluation criteria adopted at national level by ANVUR and with the indicators adopted by the self-assessment, evaluation and accreditation (AVA) system. Furthermore, the operational application of the above-mentioned criteria and the methods for the evaluation exercise flow into a specific report which is sent to the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors.

The Commission:

  • expresses mandatory, non-binding opinions on spin-offs and business creation, in compliance with the University's internal rules and regulations;
  • expresses mandatory, non-binding opinions on industrial and intellectual property matters, in compliance with the University's internal rules and regulations;
  • contributes to the definition of strategic choices regarding the development of the third mission/social impact of the University, to the identification of quality policies in the third mission/social impact and to their monitoring during the implementation phase;
  • communicates to the rector any situation that he believes should be brought to his attention;
  • expresses itself whenever University regulations require it, or the rector and the academic bodies request it. The results of the monitoring action carried out by the Commission can be used by the University bodies in order to guide any specific development strategies, to define the criteria for encouraging teachers and researchers, and to direct any activities aimed at training them latest on the themes of the third mission/social impact.

The Commission interacts with the University Quality Assurance and with the Evaluation Unit, planning periodic update meetings with these bodies regarding the activities carried out in the areas of respective interest.
