Recognition of foreign qualifications

The application for recognition is submitted to request recognition of an academic qualification obtained abroad with a similar university qualification issued by the University of International Studies of Rome - UNINT.

The recognition concerns Italian students, European Union (EU) students, non-European Union students with equivalent status (non-EU equivalent), non-European Union students residing abroad (non-EU), Italian students with a foreign qualification .

Based on Law 11 July 2002, n. 148 of ratification and execution of the Lisbon Convention of 11 April 1997, universities have competence for the recognition of study cycles and periods carried out abroad and of foreign qualifications, for the purposes of accessing higher education, continuing university studies and obtaining Italian university qualifications. The universities exercise this competence within their autonomy and in accordance with their respective regulations, without prejudice to bilateral agreements on the matter.

To request theequivalence of foreign qualifications it is necessary to present the following documents to the teaching secretariat of the relevant degree course:

  • original of the foreign upper secondary school qualification (or replacement certificate) valid for admission to the university of the country in which it was obtained (the qualification can also be self-certified by EU citizens); official translation into Italian of the qualification of upper secondary school education (or replacement certificate) obtained abroad, if not self-certified by EU citizens;
  • local declaration of value and legalization (except in the case of exemption from this act by virtue of international agreements and conventions on the subject) of the upper secondary school qualification or the replacement certificate obtained abroad by the Italian diplomatic-consular representation on site;
  • original of the foreign academic qualification (or replacement certificate) that you intend to have recognized (the qualification can also be self-certified by EU citizens);
  • official translation into Italian of the foreign academic qualification (or replacement certificate), if not self-certified by EU citizens;
  • local declaration of value and legalization (except in the case of exemption from this act by virtue of relevant international agreements and conventions) of the foreign academic qualification by the Italian diplomatic-consular representation;
  • original of the degree certificate containing the details of the university exams issued by the foreign university (the document can also be self-certified by EU citizens) or "diploma supplement", where adopted by the foreign university that issued the qualification according to the Commission's directives European;
  • official translation into Italian of the degree certificate with details of university exams and legalization by the Italian diplomatic-consular representation, if not self-certified by EU citizens;
  • summary of the official study programs of all the training activities supported by the student to obtain the foreign academic qualification (on headed paper of the foreign university and with its stamp and signature);
  • official translation into Italian of the official programs of training activities;
  • only for foreign citizens regularly residing in Italy: copy of the valid residence permit and appropriate documentation, issued by the competent police headquarters, from which the reason for issuing the residence permit can be deduced;
  • copy of passport or other valid identity document.

 

In case of a positive outcome of the application, the payment of the contribution of 1.600 euros will be required; in the event of a negative outcome of the application, a sum of 800 euros must be paid to the University to cover the administrative costs incurred for the preliminary investigation phase.
