ARMA A musical of freedom

The University of International Studies of Rome - UNINT, in collaboration with BMA - Brancaccio Musical Academy, organizes the performance of ARMA A musical of freedom, lyric book and direction by Piero Di Blasio, music and musical direction by Dino Scuderi. The performance will take place on 24 April 2024 from 11:00 at Marconi Theatre.

The project is financed by the UNINT third mission/social impact call (academic year 2023/2024).

The initiative is part of the events to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), International Women's Day (8 March), the Anniversary of Liberation (25 April).

What do Anna Magnani, Rita Levi-Montalcini, Margherita Hack and Alda Merini have in common? They are all "unruly souls" who rejected a destiny assigned by their contemporary socio-cultural tradition and with tenacity and difficulty, shaping their own stories, they made the history of the 900th century in the difficult transition from the fascist dictatorship to post-war democratic Italy.
Their stories are told here by a comedian who, in his obsession to make his debut with his somewhat dilapidated vaudeville company, immerses us in the atmosphere of a form of entertainment which, in the context of the dark years of dictatorship and war, with irony, humor and creativity, he allowed spaces for expression against censorship and political pressure, representing an indelible artistic phenomenon in the construction of Italian cultural identity.
“Show within the show” for still very current themes of passion, freedom and courage that the authors deliver to those who want to use them as remedies against the culture of indifference, against discrimination and against every form of war.
Participation is free and free upon registration.
