Department Councils

The Department Council is chaired by the Director of the Department who convenes it and is made up of first and second level tenured professors and tenured researchers; Furthermore, a student representative elected from among the representatives of the individual study courses participates in the Department Council. Fixed-term researchers and members of the Board of Directors may participate in the Department Council without the right to vote.

The Department Council decides by simple majority of those present with the right to vote. In the event of a tie, the Director's vote prevails.

The duties of the Department Council are:

1. the formulation of the Department's development proposals for the purposes of defining the University's development plans;
2. the formulation of proposals for the part of competence regarding the University teaching regulations;
3. the formulation of proposals for the awarding of honorary degrees;
4. the exercise of all the powers delegated to it by the rules on the university system, without prejudice to the provisions of this Statute;
5. in the event that a degree course does not have the relevant Course Council referred to in art. 16 of this Statute, the relevant Department Council carries out the relevant functions. In such cases, contract teachers also participate, if called, without the right to vote.
