About the University

Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT is a private university, established in Rome in 1996, originally known as Libero Istituto Universitario "San Pio V". From the beginning, the inclusion among the teaching staff of leading Italian and foreign academics, as well as professionals and personalities from the field of culture was one of the objectives of the founders; the opportunity to experience different aspects of working life and to develop an international identity were also priorities.

In March 2013 the University changed its name to Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT in order to focus more effectively on the international identity of its educational and training programmes. The University has introduced a wider range of languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish), giving students in all disciplines the opportunity to participate in various educational activities and internships abroad.

This change was promoted by the Foundation for Research into Migration and Technological Integration (FORMIT), which has managed the University since 2011 and aims to offer high-quality education, training, and management efficiency.

Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT, in compliance with the principles enshrined in the Constitution, contributes to the advancement and transmission of knowledge, guaranteeing teachers and researchers autonomy in the organization and conduct of research.

Teaching is free from any form of conditioning in the choice of contents and methodologies, notwithstanding the objectives established for each course. The University is aware that only when free from any form of ideological conditioning, people are capable of transforming the world. Furthermore, it believes that education, as an inexhaustible source of awareness, is the only means to unhinge prejudices.

The institutional mission, development and strategic objectives of the University are inspired by the idea that free and aware people are the real actors of social progress.

UNINT develops and disseminates culture, science and higher education through research, teaching activities and scientific collaboration with Italian and foreign Institutions. It also collaborates with professional organizations, businesses and local institutions. The University mission is characterized by:

  • the international orientation: students are allowed to spend a period of study abroad thanks to more than 90 agreements with partner Universities. Moreover, foreign students and teachers studying and working at UNINT contribute to increasing the internationalization of the University;
  • the strong link with the world of work, with a network of over 800 companies and institutions which give students the possibility of fostering their skills through internships; among them, national companies, multinationals, NGOs, consulates, embassies, ministries and EU bodies;
  • a student / teacher ratio of 1 to 8 and University offices aiming at supporting students throughout their academic life.

The aforementioned guidelines contribute to defining the University's didactic and scientific direction. They are constantly updated on the basis of careful observation of the trends and changing needs of the national and international job market.

The University deeply analyses the evolutionary dynamics of society, in order to foster social innovation and train people capable of becoming its architects. All courses are designed to respond to the needs of the job market, while providing a strong basic preparation.

The University recognizes and promotes the fundamental role of research. It encourages the collaboration with other Italian and foreign Universities and culture Institutions.

Alongside teaching and research, the University fulfils a third mission: contributing to the development of civil society through the direct application, enhancement and use of knowledge.
In this perspective, UNINT is committed to disseminating knowledge through a direct relationship with the territory and all its actors and promoting awareness of the values underlying our Constitution.

UNINT strongly believes in the centrality of the person and in the importance of Universities for professional but also personal growth. For this reason, it encourages the establishment of associations and collective organizations as well as the realization of educational, cultural, artistic, sport, recreational and social activities financed by the University, but conceived and independently managed by the students. In fact, it believes that this may stimulate their creative and entrepreneurial spirit.

The University considers breaking down, along with physical barrier, any form of mental barrier that may hinder the social evolution, enrichment and full realization of anyone a priority, in order to contribute to the achievement of goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development signed by the 193 UN member countries. It states "that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development".

The University's vision is to eliminate borders and shorten the distance between individuals, contributing to social evolution. The cornerstones of our Courses are: allowing speakers of different mother tongues and belonging to cultural spheres sometimes very distant to enter into relationship; promoting the use of the digital channel as a virtuous means of connecting markets; encouraging international cooperation mechanisms. In such a way, the University aims at training professionals capable of concretely responding to the growing changeability and complexity of the phenomena linked to international relations.

UNINT aspires to transmitting to students the knowledges and skills necessary for managing relationships with others, believing that these relationships are what fully define the social identity of individuals.
