Project funded by UNINT – Third Mission/Social Impact call (a.y. 2023/2024)
Project Manager: Angelo Iacovella, UNINT Associate Professor

Objectives

Promote the rediscovery of the literary, artistic and musical heritage of antiquity by making it a vehicle for bearing witness in today's society, through the "plastic" example of a choir composed of young scholars of the Greco-Roman world, of different nationalities, religions and origin, the importance of the values of humanism for the purposes of peace, coexistence and dialogue between peoples (Goal 16, UN Agenda 2030: Peace, justice and strong institutions).

Actions

The event includes a concert by the Tyrtarion choir, whose members are teachers and students of Latin and Greek from the Academy Vivarium Novum (World Campus for Humanism) in Frascati, based in the prestigious Villa Falconieri. The members of the choir, which performs with music and songs of ancient Rome (in Latin and Greek) with period instruments, are mostly young scholars from all over the world (from Nepal to Mexico, from Russia to Ukraine), who, through their performances, bear witness to the perennial relevance of classical culture and the values of integral humanism that it conveys, contributing through music and songs to the rediscovery, in an international key and in the spirit of an active dialogue between peoples, of the immense heritage of Greco-Roman civilisation. The performance is preceded by a speech (in Italian and Latin) by Luigi Miraglia, an internationally renowned Latinist, on humanism as a horizon of peace, tolerance and dialogue between civilisations.
