Project funded by UNINT – Third Mission/Social Impact call (a.y. 2023/2024)
Project Manager: CIRCgE, UNINT Research Centre
Objectives
In line with the purpose of CIRCgE, the initiative aims to raise awareness of the need for the growth and dissemination of gender cultures, understood as cultures of integration, tolerance and combating all forms of discrimination.
The initiative brings together the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), International Women's Day (8 March) and the Anniversary of the Liberation of Italy (25 April).
Actions
Performance of “A.R.M.A. Un musical di libertà”.
The musical presents the figures of Anna Magnani, Rita Levi-Montalcini, Margherita Hack and Alda Merini as clear examples of lives that made the history of the twentieth century.
Through the lens of the Avanspettacolo, which prevailed in Italy between the 30s and 50s as a form of popular entertainment, we retrace the biographies of women brought together by having gone through Italy's most difficult history, the transition from the Fascist dictatorship to the post-war period. These "unruly souls", despite the role traditionally desired for them by the socio-economic context of reference, all represent the contribution that women have made and make to human elevation in all fields, from entertainment, to science, to literature, also finding in culture that irrepressible tool for shaping, even in the future, democratic, just and peaceful societies.
The show, new to the general public, was written by Piero Di Blasio, educational director of BMA – Brancaccio Musical Academy in Rome.
The music is by Dino Scuderi, teacher at the same Academy.
Impact
The implementation of socio-cultural initiatives, in line with the objectives of the CIRCgE Research Centre, inspires concrete actions of integration and combating all forms of discrimination in social life, also adhering to the objectives of the Third Mission - Social Impact of the University, aimed at communication and the dissemination of knowledge through a direct relationship with the territory.
