Master's Degree in Languages and Innovative Teaching

The Master's Degree Programme in Languages and Innovative Teaching is designed to acquire in-depth knowledge and understanding of the processes and issues involved in cross-cultural communication and to develop high-level skills in language teaching. Studying Languages for Intercultural Communication and Teaching equips students with a range of sought-after transferable skills, including written and oral communication skills, intercultural awareness and research methods.

Students may follow one of four possible curricula:

  • Curriculum in Teaching 1 EU Language, which allows them to acquire the skill sets required for teaching one EU language (to be chosen from English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish) by consolidating proficiency in a second foreign language;
  • Curriculum in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language and 1 EU Language, which is designed to produce graduates specialised in teaching one EU language (to be chosen from English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish) and Italian as a foreign language;
  • Curriculum in Teaching 2 Languages, which provides students the ability to teach two foreign languages. Students may choose one of the following combinations: (a) Teaching two EU languages (to be chosen from English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish); (b) Teaching one EU language and a second extra-EU language (to be chosen from Arabic, Chinese and Russian).

Each Curriculum provide students with a broad range of expertise across the areas of anthropology, educational psychology, theory and science of social education, methodologies of teaching and special education as well as the arts and humanities field (e.g. Film Language and Audiovisual Translation Theory).

Each Curriculum allows students to choose 12 ECTS from a list of elective courses (for further information check the Didactic Regulations). Students are also given the chance to boast their skills and knowledge through a curricular internship, thanks to the numerous agreements between the University and several institutions and companies.
