The application for recognition is submitted to request recognition of an academic degree earned abroad with a similar university degree issued by the Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma - UNINT.

Recognition covers Italian students, European Union (EU) students, non-European Union equivalent (non-EU equivalent) students, non-EU students living abroad (non-EU), and Italian students with foreign degrees.
According to Law no. 148 of July 11th, 2002, ratifying and executing the Lisbon Convention of April 11, 1997, universities are responsible for the recognition of cycles and periods of study completed abroad and foreign degrees for the purpose of access to higher education, the pursuit of university studies and the awarding of Italian university degrees. Universities exercise this competence within the scope of their autonomy and in accordance with their respective regulations, without prejudice to any bilateral agreements on the matter.

To apply for the equivalency of foreign qualifications, a request for equivalency must be submitted to the student office, attaching the following documents:

• original foreign high school leaving certificate (or substitute certificate) valid for admission to the university in the country where it was obtained (the degree may also be self-certified by EU citizens);
• official translation into Italian of the high school leaving certificate (or substitute certificate) obtained abroad, if not self-certified by EU citizens;
• declaration of value in loco and legalisation (except in the case of exemption from this act by virtue of relevant international agreements and conventions) of the high school certificate or substitute certificate obtained abroad by the Italian diplomatic-consular representation in loco;
• original foreign academic degree (or substitute certificate) you intend to have recognised (the degree may also be self-certified by EU citizens);
• official translation into Italian of the foreign academic qualification (or substitute certificate), if not self-certified by EU citizens;
• declaration of value in loco and legalisation (except in the case of exemption from this act by virtue of relevant international agreements and conventions) of the foreign academic qualification or substitute certificate obtained abroad by the Italian diplomatic-consular representation in loco;
• original degree certificate containing details of university examinations issued by the foreign university (the document can also be self-certified by EU citizens) or "diploma supplement," where adopted by the foreign university that issued the degree in accordance with European Commission guidelines;
• official Italian translation of the degree certificate with details of university exams and legalisation by the Italian diplomatic-consular representation, if not self-certified by EU citizens;
• summary of the official curricula of all educational activities completed by the student for the foreign academic qualification (on letterhead of the foreign university with its stamp and signature);
• official Italian translation of the official programmes of the educational activities;
• where applicable, receipt of payment of the fee of 1,600 euros set by the current regulations;
• only for foreign citizens legally residing in Italy: copy of valid residence permit and appropriate documentation, issued by the competent police headquarters, from which the reason for issuing the residence permit can be deduced;
• copy of passport or other valid identification document.
