Il Poetry Village 2026 renews its international opening in the name of poetry in the language Portuguese widespread in several countries of the world, namely Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, São Tomé and Principe, East Timor.
The project, born in collaboration with the University of International Studies of Rome (UNINT), is realized through a thematic journey based on poetry and music that extols the value of interculturality and dialogue between peoples, drawing on the social history and environmental inspirations that characterize the entire Portuguese-speaking cultural area. This poetics is strongly inspired by the so-called "saudade," that typical feeling of the Portuguese soul that permeates memory, love, and the search for peace.
The inaugural event, in the Unint Library, will be dedicated to the memory of Nuno Judice (among the major contemporary Portuguese poets, deceased in March 2024, whose last appearance in Italy took place in the “European Festival of Environmental Poetry” of 2021, also promoted by Saperenetwork) and Camilo Pessanha (historical voice of Portuguese poetry, precursor of the poetry of Fernando Pessoa. ) of which the centenary of his death occurs.
