Training and information meeting: prevention and intervention in case of cardiac arrest

As part of the third mission/social impact activities, the University of International Studies of Rome in collaboration with the Giorgio Castelli Foundation is organizing the event entitled “Training and information meeting: prevention and intervention in the event of cardiac arrest” which will be held on May 13th from 10:13 in room XNUMX.

The Giorgio Castelli Foundation, a non-profit volunteer organization, was founded in memory of Giorgio, a young amateur soccer player for Real Tor Sapienza, who died on the field in Rome in 2006 due to cardiac arrest during training. The mission of the Foundation is to contribute to the fight against cardiovascular diseases, which are the main cause of death in so-called developed countries.

The Foundation is particularly committed to disseminating and promoting the culture of first aid, a culture of life and attention to the needs of others, implemented both through training courses (since 2014 it has been a training body accredited by the Lazio Region) in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques and with the use of the semi-automatic defibrillator (BLS-D), and through conferences and meetings. The BLS-D procedures, if promptly applied within the first 4-6 minutes from the onset of a cardiac arrest, are able to save up to 40% of those affected, otherwise destined for certain death in 98-99% of cases.

Participation

The meeting on May 13, which also includes a practical demonstration, is open to students, teachers and UNINT technical-administrative staff and is preparatory to the BLS-D training course that will take place in November 2025, open to a limited number of participants to ensure the correct ratio between the number of trainers and students. More information on the practical course and on how to participate will be given during the meeting.
