THEUniversità degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT organizes the meeting “Italianity in the world between culture and economy of Made in Italy. Linguistic strategies, discursive practices and symbolic elements in global markets” which will be held on 28 and 29 November 2024.
The event will be held over two days. The first will take place at the Centro Studi Americani (via M. Caetani 44) and the second at the University of International Studies of Rome UNINT (via delle Sette Chiese 139), in the Aula Magna and live streaming.
The conference is organized in relation to the PRIN project with UNINT research unit “Italian language, global language market, Italian enterprise in the world: new linguistic, socio-cultural, institutional, economic-productive dynamics”.
Description
The aim of the meeting is to promote discussion with political and institutional figures involved in the themes covered by the project in order to share the results achieved by the research units (UNINT, University of Florence, IUL-University of Bergamo) under the coordination of the University for Foreigners of Siena and, more recently, of Sapienza University of Rome.
Il research project has investigated the relationships between Italian language-culture-economy in various international contexts, the obstacles to the development of the positive effects that can derive from them, the indications to manage them in a more effective way than the current one. An example concerns the Made in Italy/Italian Sounding polarization. There are economic-productive and commercial realities rooted abroad in countries of (neo-) Italian emigration that, precisely, are based on a bond with Italy, and contribute to conveying positive attributes with respect to lifestyle, know-how and values of Made in Italy, despite having their own products with names (even just the owners') and symbols linked to Italian heritage.
Considering the focus of the conference, organized by the UNINT research unit in collaboration with the other project units, it will also be possible to take advantage of the active involvement of the research center MADEINT of UNINT.
November 28th will be dedicated to the presentation of the “Manifesto for effective, inclusive, context-appropriate communication of Made in Italy” followed by a Round Table entitled “Made in Italy, Italian Sounding and beyond: current and future political-institutional scenarios”.
The day of November 29th will instead be dedicated to the scientific debate between scholars and experts in the research areas at the center of the project and members of the various research units of PRIN 2017 and the MADEINT research center of UNINT. The contributions will be distributed in two thematic sessions:
The day will include a final moment of project assessment and reflection on future research prospects.
