The University's Third Mission/Social Impact Committee, in collaboration with the Association of Highly Sensitive People – HSP Italia, is organizing the event titled "Highly Sensitive People: What Science Says and What It Means in Everyday Life," which will be held on April 15th from 14:00 PM in Room 4 and livestreamed.
Program
High sensitivity, or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS), is a temperamental trait that affects approximately 25-30% of the population. Highly sensitive people (HSPs) exhibit greater depth in processing stimuli, heightened emotional reactivity, and increased sensitivity to subtle environmental cues. Psychological and neuroscientific research has shown that this trait, far from being a deficit, represents a different way of processing experience, with significant implications for well-being, interpersonal relationships, and academic and work performance.
The meeting will be divided into three parts: an informative section, which will present the scientific basis of the construct and the main research results; a practical section, with useful tools for recognizing and enhancing the trait in everyday life; and a section dedicated to current and future research prospects on the topic.
The event has no clinical or psychotherapeutic intent. Its purpose is to inform, raise awareness, and offer tools for students and citizens interested in the topic.
