The International University of Rome – UNINT, in collaboration with the 16th edition of the Festival of Diplomacy, hosts the conference entitled “Negotiating Skills and Peacebuilding.”
The event, part of UNINT's third mission/social impact activities, will be held on October 16, 2025, starting at 12:00 a.m. in room 6 and livestreamed.
Negotiation skills are the art of listening, understanding, and mediating between different, often conflicting, interests with the goal of finding sustainable and shared solutions. It's not just a matter of technique, but also of empathy, emotional intelligence, and the willingness to recognize the other as a legitimate interlocutor. In tense or conflictual situations, negotiation becomes a fundamental tool for avoiding escalation and building bridges.
Peacebuilding, in fact, is not a one-off event, but a long process, made up of small agreements, trust to be rebuilt, and relationships to be healed. On this journey, negotiating skills are not only useful for solving immediate problems, but also for creating the conditions for dialogue to remain open even after the conflict. It is, ultimately, the ability to transform disagreement into opportunity, and difference into enrichment.
