
The School of Economics, International Relations and Diplomacy (SERID), established at theUniversità degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT offers a training path aimed at understanding and analyzing the most relevant economic and political dynamics that take shape in the international system.
The training and workshop activities provided by the School aim to provide participants with the conceptual and analytical tools necessary to understand the dynamics underway in the economic and political-diplomatic balances at a global level, without neglecting the analysis of their repercussions on the main States - Italy, first and foremost - and on the most relevant international and supranational organizations. For this objective, the School prepares a highly specialized training offer with innovative themes, focusing in particular on digital, energy, intercultural and gender aspects of contemporary relevance. Finally, the course integrates a specific educational strand on diplomacy and its role in resolving some of the main dossiers of international political and economic relations of the 21st century.
The School is characterized by the presence of university professors, business managers, political analysts, diplomats and representatives of the world of international organizations and communications to guarantee a better representation of the complexity of the international processes underway. During the course, the aim is to stimulate constant interaction within the sections. The meetings are imagined with a dialogic perspective whereby the achievement of the training objectives is guaranteed by the continuous feedback from the participants.
The School of Economics, International Relations and Diplomacy (SERID) is organized by theUniversità degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT in collaboration with the Geopolitica.info Study Center and the Research Center “Cooperation with Eurasia, the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa” (CEMAS) of Sapienza University of Rome.
The course lasts one year (academic year) and begins in October 2023 and ends in June 2024. The calendar includes a monthly meeting with the exception of January 2024 in which there will be no meeting and May 2024 in which there will be there will be two meetings. The initial section of the school will be preceded by a launch conference. The total is, therefore, 9 days of work for a total of 26 hours of training (18 hours of teaching + 8 hours of final project work). Each monthly appointment is scheduled to last 2 hours, from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm.
The appointments will take place in person at the headquarters of the University of International Studies of Rome (Rome, Via Cristoforo Colombo, 200 – 00147 – Metro B stop Garbatella). In order to obtain the final certificate, students must attend at least 80% of the meetings.
The School of Economics, International Relations and Diplomacy (SERID) develops through the 8 teaching areas defined below:
- geoeconomics and economic cooperation;
- intercultural leadership and interreligious dialogue;
- e-diplomacy and new technologies;
- human rights and gender issues;
- international trade and economic multilateralism;
- energy transition and green economy;
- global management, corporate diplomacy and lobbying;
- public diplomacy and integrated promotion of the country system.
Certificate of attendance and recognition of ECTS
At the end of the School, students will be asked to give a presentation on a topic of their choice during two final exam sessions. In the presentations, students will have to explore one of the topics covered during the work days.
In the event of a positive outcome of the evaluation procedure, the student will receive a final attendance certificate, suitable for obtaining 4 University Training Credits (CFU).
All teaching materials, including video recordings, lesson slides and reading lists will be made available on the UNINT Everywhere platform. Therefore, both those who were unable to attend some of the meetings and those who wish to delve further into the topics covered will be able to consult the materials on the online platform.
Recipients and methods of participation
SERID is designed to integrate the university courses of all UNINT students as well as of students enrolled in similar curricula at other universities. Given the highly specialised nature of the training offer, however, the School is also aimed at those who, having completed their university studies, wish to delve deeper into technical aspects of international economic and political affairs.
The second edition of SERID includes a maximum of 50 participants. Therefore, given the limited number of places, admission to the School is subject to passing a selection process based on qualifications.
Lectures are delivered in-person at the headquarters of the University of International Studies of Rome (Via delle Sette Chiese, 139, 00147 – Rome).

Participation in SERID is free for UNINT students.
For all other categories of participants there is a participation fee of 199 euros; in this case the payment must be made to the bank account with IBAN IT38U0100503224000000002874 made out to Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma, indicating the following parameters in the payment reason: Name Surname Tax Code and, under "Course", SERID.
