About us
The Confucius Hall of theUniversità degli Studi Internazionali di Roma – UNINT was established in May 2025 through an agreement with theConfucius Institute of the Sapienza University of Rome, with which a fruitful collaboration had already been active since 2019 for the organization of educational and cultural activities aimed at promoting the Chinese language and culture.
In June 2025, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Confucius Institute of Rome, a ceremony was held during which the plaque of the UNINT Confucius Hall was unveiled. It was presented by the directors of the Confucius Institute of Rome, Professor Federico Masini and Professor Wei Yi, to the Rector Mariagrazia Russo and Tiziana Lioi, Associate Professor and director of the Hall. The event was attended by a delegation from the Beijing University of Foreign Languages (BFSU) and representatives of the Italian and Chinese academic and institutional worlds.
Present in Rome since 2006, the Confucius Institute is affiliated with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), an agency of the Chinese Ministry of Education responsible for the dissemination of the Chinese language and culture abroad.
The UNINT Confucius Hall was founded with the aim of strengthening the bond between the entire academic community and the People's Republic of China, promoting dialogue and cooperation between Italy and China. To this end, it is committed to building bridges of knowledge through the organization and promotion of cultural activities, seminars, conferences, Chinese language and culture courses, and other significant events.

Activities
The countless activities organized by UNINT and the Confucius Institute from 2019 to today include: calligraphy courses, lessons in taiji, introductory Chinese language courses, Chinese corners, Chinese listening and conversation exercises, international conferences and lectures with Chinese experts and scholars, exhibitions and performances by Chinese artists.
The Confucius Hall initiatives are intended not only for the UNINT community in all its components (students, teachers, technical-administrative staff), but also for the local area and anyone who wishes to deepen their knowledge of China and its culture.
UNINT students also have access to translation courses and scholarships promoted annually by the Confucius Institute.
Lecturers
Every year, UNINT hosts a professor from the Confucius Institute who supports the Chinese teachers on staff at the University in teaching and organizing activities related to the Chinese language and culture.
The teacher in charge of the UNINT Confucius Classroom starting from the 2024-25 academic year is Professor Lin Jiangping 林江萍, an HSK and YCT certifier with teaching experience in Thailand and England, always on behalf of the Confucius Institute.
The direction of the Chamber is instead entrusted to Tiziana Lioi, Associate Professor of Chinese Language and Literature (ASIA -01F).
Professor Lioi has been collaborating with the Confucius Institute of Sapienza University of Rome since 2006, the year of its establishment, and has always been involved in cultural and literary relations between Italy and China, teaching at prestigious universities in Italy and abroad (University of Roma Tre, University of Milan Bicocca, Nanjing Normal University, etc.), before arriving at UNINT.
